COURSE DESCRIPTION

Research shows that when families and schools work together, everyone benefits. In this online, self-paced book study spanning four weeks, participants will explore the advantages that arise when schools, families, and communities collaborate jointly for students' success. Throughout the course, you will find examples of effective partnerships across the six involvement types, from pre-K to 12th grade. Additionally, the course provides checklists, frameworks, and evaluations to support you in crafting a comprehensive partnership program.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Students will evaluate the Framework of Six Types of Involvement, identifying practical strategies to foster school, family, and community partnerships that support student success. 
  • Students will design and structure an Action Team for Partnerships (ATP), incorporating best practices from the course to align with your school’s goals. 
  • Students will assess existing partnership programs using tools and checklists provided in the course.

COURSE DATES & LOCATION

June 30 to July 28, 2025. Online, asynchronous, hosted in Canvas.

ENROLLMENT OPTIONS

All students must first register for this Canvas course even if they choose to take it for graduate credit through the University of Sioux Falls. Those taking this course for 15 CECH/CEU need only register with Canvas. Those wishing to take this course for 1 graded college credit must also register and pay directly at USF. Link below.
