Course Description
This course introduces paraprofessionals to the research-based framework of Explicit Instruction, a high-impact teaching approach that guides students from initial learning to independent mastery. Participants will learn to define Explicit Instruction, understand the research supporting its 13 core elements, and apply practical strategies across four key areas: content, design of instruction, delivery of instruction, and practice. Through video instruction, reflection activities, and scenario-based assessments, paraprofessionals will develop skills to support student learning using techniques like gradual release ("I do, we do, you do"), effective feedback, and interactive review. The course includes ready-to-use strategies for supporting reading, writing, and vocabulary development that can be immediately applied in the classroom.
