Course Description
This course equips paraprofessionals with science-based knowledge and practical strategies to effectively support literacy instruction for all students, including struggling readers. Participants will explore the foundational components of reading development, including the Reading Rope model, the five pillars of reading instruction, and how the brain processes written language. The course features a half hour BHSSC-created instructional video. Participants will acquire a deeper understanding of the most common disability categories and learn effective instructional strategies to support students with special needs. The course concludes with a post-assessment to gauge the participants' understanding of the material.
