Course Description

"Data Collection" is a vital course that equips paraprofessionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively gather and utilize data to support student learning and success. The course begins with an engaging narrative that emphasizes the critical role data plays in informing educational decisions and interventions. Through a series of informative BHSSC-created videos, reflective exercises, and assessments, participants will explore the various reasons for collecting data and identify key areas where data can be gathered to support student progress. The course provides hands-on practice with a range of data collection methods, ensuring paraprofessionals feel confident in their ability to collect accurate and meaningful information. Participants will also learn how to collaborate with educational teams to plan for effective data collection and utilization strategies that directly contribute to student success. By the end of the course, paraprofessionals will possess a strong foundation in data collection practices and feel empowered to use data to make a positive impact on student outcomes.
