Course Description
"Executive Functioning" is a comprehensive course that equips paraprofessionals with the knowledge and understanding necessary to support students who face challenges with executive function skills. The course begins with an engaging narrative that introduces the concept of executive function and its impact on student learning and daily life. Through a series of informative BHSSC-created videos, reflective exercises, and assessments, participants will gain a clear understanding of what executive function entails and the typical challenges students may face in areas such as attention, planning, organization, and self-regulation. The course explores the underlying causes of these challenges, providing paraprofessionals with a foundation for developing targeted support strategies. Participants will learn practical, classroom-based interventions and techniques to address executive function difficulties, enabling them to create a supportive learning environment that fosters student success. By the end of the course, paraprofessionals will possess a robust understanding of executive function and a toolkit of strategies to help students overcome challenges and thrive in their academic and personal lives.
