Course Description

"Student Management" is a comprehensive course designed to equip paraprofessionals with the knowledge, skills, and strategies necessary to effectively manage student behaviors and create a positive learning environment across various settings. The course begins with an engaging narrative that highlights the importance of proactive and supportive approaches to student management. Through a series of informative BHSSC-created videos, reflective exercises, and assessments, participants will explore a range of techniques and ideas that they can immediately implement in their work with students. The course focuses on building a robust toolbox of strategies that empower paraprofessionals to foster positive relationships with students, redirect negative behaviors, and provide targeted academic support. Participants will learn how to establish clear expectations, use positive reinforcement, and implement effective communication and de-escalation techniques to prevent and address challenging behaviors. By the end of the course, paraprofessionals will feel confident in their ability to create a nurturing and supportive classroom environment that promotes student success and well-being.
