Course Description
The Paraprofessional Toolkit is a comprehensive professional development program designed to equip paraprofessionals with the essential skills and knowledge needed to effectively support students in diverse educational settings. This toolkit consists of 18 concise, hour-long modules that cover a wide range of topics crucial to the success of paraprofessionals in their roles.
Participants will begin with an introduction to special education, gaining a solid foundation in the principles and practices that underpin effective support for students with diverse needs. The program then delves into the specific roles and responsibilities of paraprofessionals, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with teachers to create inclusive and supportive learning environments.
Throughout the toolkit, paraprofessionals will explore essential topics such as accommodations and modifications, academic instruction strategies, data collection techniques, and methods for fostering student engagement. The program also dedicates a course to understanding and supporting students with executive functioning challenges, providing practical strategies to help these students thrive.
Each course in the Paraprofessional Toolkit includes engaging video lectures, self-reflection opportunities, and additional resources to reinforce learning and encourage practical application. By completing this program, paraprofessionals will gain the confidence and competence needed to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the students they support, contributing to their academic, social, and emotional growth.
